Standard Overview

NF C 33-226 specifies requirements for insulated medium voltage aerial cables used in overhead distribution networks. The standard defines the construction, materials, electrical characteristics, and mechanical performance requirements for cables designed for medium voltage overhead power systems.

It is mainly applied in France and French-speaking regions, including many African markets, for medium voltage overhead distribution applications.

Key Requirements

Conductor: Stranded aluminum conductors

Insulation: XLPE (Cross-linked polyethylene) insulation

Screening: Metallic screen or conductive layers according to cable design

Construction: Insulated aerial conductors or bundled overhead cable systems

Voltage Rating: Commonly 12/20kV and 18/30kV

Performance: UV resistance, weather resistance, mechanical strength, and electrical reliability

Applications
