Located in West Africa, Sierra Leone has an important mining industry, with mineral export terminals playing a key role in transporting and handling mineral resources.
The mineral export terminal project required reliable low voltage power distribution to support its industrial facilities and related electrical equipment. As part of the project's cable procurement, Zhongdong Cable supplied a range of aluminium conductor power cables in different sizes and constructions to meet various power distribution requirements.
The supplied cables were rated at 0.6/1 kV and featured XLPE insulation with a PVC outer sheath, including both steel tape armoured and unarmoured designs.
Rated Voltage: 0.6/1 kV low voltage power cables for industrial power distribution systems.
Conductor Material: Aluminium conductors to provide a lightweight and cost-effective cable solution.
Insulation and Sheath: XLPE insulation and PVC outer sheath for reliable electrical and environmental protection.

Aluminium Conductors: Offer lower cable weight and a cost-effective solution for industrial low voltage power distribution. Conductor sizes were selected according to the respective project requirements.
XLPE Insulation: Provides good electrical properties, heat resistance, and aging performance, with a typical maximum continuous operating conductor temperature of 90°C.
Steel Tape Armour (STA): Provides additional mechanical protection and is suitable for applications where the cable design and installation conditions require an armoured structure.
PVC Outer Sheath: Provides external protection against handling, environmental exposure, and normal installation conditions within the limits of the cable design.
Multiple Cable Configurations: The supply included both armoured and unarmoured constructions, with different conductor sizes to accommodate varying power distribution requirements across the terminal facilities.
Power Distribution Circuits: Larger cross-section armoured cables for power distribution circuits requiring additional mechanical protection.
Industrial Electrical Installations: Smaller unarmoured cables for installations where adequate external mechanical protection was provided.
