Project Background
The Uzbekistan Navoi Integrated Energy 300MW Solar Project is a major renewable energy project in Central Asia, located in the Navoi region of central Uzbekistan. The project is a key part of the country’s Green Energy Development Program.
Situated in a typical continental climate zone, the project experiences extremely high summer temperatures, significant day-to-night temperature variations, and frequent sandstorms, placing strict requirements on the weather resistance, heat resistance, and mechanical protection performance of the cable products.
The project serves not only as an important power source for the regional grid, but also as a landmark initiative supporting Uzbekistan’s energy transition strategy and reducing dependence on natural gas.
Customer Requirements
· The medium voltage cables were required for 26/35kV power transmission systems, suitable for photovoltaic array collector circuits and booster substation outgoing lines.
· The cables had to operate reliably within a wide temperature range of -30°C to +70°C and withstand strong UV exposure, sandstorms, and harsh outdoor environments.
· The products were required to provide flame retardant, rodent-resistant, anti-termite, oil-resistant, and ozone-resistant performance.
· A small quantity of optical cables was supplied for on-site communication and monitoring systems, with requirements for tensile strength, moisture resistance, and low signal attenuation.
· International certifications such as IEC, GOST, or CE, along with specialized weather resistance test reports, were required.
· The delivery schedule was tight, requiring close coordination with the civil construction and installation progress, with cable shipments delivered in batches to the Navoi project site in Uzbekistan.

Product Features
Medium Voltage Cable
· Double steel tape armored structure: provides excellent mechanical protection and is suitable for direct burial and cable tray installations.
· XLPE insulation: offers outstanding heat resistance and aging resistance, with a long-term operating temperature of 90°C and a short-circuit temperature rating of up to 250°C.
· Anti-termite and weather-resistant outer sheath: specially formulated for the dry climate conditions of Central Asia, providing strong resistance against sand, wind, and rodent damage.
· Low smoke halogen free flame retardant design: complies with international environmental protection and fire safety standards.
Optical Cables
· Double sheath and armored structure: provides high tensile strength, moisture resistance, and waterproof performance, making it suitable for installation in the same trench as power cables.
· Low attenuation design: ensures stable long-distance signal transmission performance.
· Compatible with mainstream communication protocols: supports fiber optic differential protection systems and intelligent operation and maintenance systems.
Application:
· Photovoltaic strings → inverter boosting units → 35kV collector circuits
· Medium voltage switchgear of the booster substation to the main transformer side
· On-site fiber optic ring network communication and video surveillance links
· Remote monitoring and protection signal transmission between the control room and transformer substations

Supply and Service Process
Technical Coordination Stage
To meet local GOST standards in Uzbekistan and the project owner’s specific technical requirements, multiple rounds of technical clarification and sample testing were conducted.
Production Planning Stage
Priority production was arranged for the main medium voltage cable specifications, while the supporting optical cables were manufactured simultaneously to ensure the first batch of cables arrived on site together with the initial civil construction phase.
Logistics and Delivery Stage
Railway and road combined transportation was adopted for delivery to the Navoi project site, with products packaged by installation area to facilitate fast on-site distribution and management.
After-Sales Support Stage
Technical engineers provided remote guidance for cable installation and termination works, along with professional recommendations for optical fiber splicing and testing procedures.
“The medium voltage cables and optical cables performed very well on site. Their heat resistance and protection against sand and harsh weather were especially impressive and perfectly suited for the tough conditions in the Navoi area. The deliveries were well organized, and all technical documents were provided on time, which really helped keep the project moving smoothly toward grid connection.”
